Ruth Simpson
Ruth Simpson is an enthusiastic painter of nature. Her work may be best described as richly colored with a healthy dose of impressionism. Though she works in many media, she has a preference for acrylic, watercolor and soft and oil pastel because of their brilliant reflective quality and purity of color. This allows for a fast application of layers or glazes of pigment. “The colors are the music in my paintings,” Ruth explains, “and the lines are the lyrics.”
Ruth also enjoys using natural semi-precious stones in her jewelry designs. Fused glass is also to be found in some of her most recent work, both in jewelry and decorative and functional pieces. “Opening the kiln is like Christmas every day. I never know quite what has happened until I see what’s inside.
Ruth’s childhood years in Florida, many years in the mid-west and over twenty years in the Colorado high country are all reflected in her work. “After many years as a healthcare professional, I am grateful to now have the time to enjoy family, friends and art.”
Ruth’s work is shown at The Courtyard Gallery in Buena Vista, Colorado and is enjoyed by collectors throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
