Kathy Mailander
Kathy is a self taught artist blessed with a natural creative talent. Working primarily in watercolor, her representational work reflects her love of the color, light, shadow and form of the world around her. She also enjoys decorative painting, quilting and jewelry making. 
A native of Nebraska, she has spent her adult life in Buena Vista. She is married with three married children and four grand-children.
Kathy paints for herself. Each piece begins with an idea and the creative side of her brain leads her through the process. She will start with a rough sketch, but once the painting begins, it guides itself through to finality. She learns something new with each process and is constantly learning and growing. She takes great joy in her work; it is a part of who she is and a means of expressing herself. She has had shows in Buena Vista and Salida. Her work can currently be seen at The Courtyard Gallery in Buena Vista and is in collections throughout the world.
